Most people book 1:1 coaching because something specific is happening. These are the situations Emily works on most often.
You need to prepare a classical speech or a Shakespeare self-tape for a casting. You want strong, specific choices and someone who knows what audition panels look for.
You are in rehearsal for a Shakespeare production and the text is not working. You need someone who can help you find the action in the language and make confident choices under time pressure.
A casting director wants a classical self-tape on a short deadline. You need practical coaching on how to make Shakespeare read on camera, fast.
You are applying to drama school and need classical speeches selected, prepared, and coached to audition standard.
You are a director about to tackle a Shakespeare production and need support with the text, the editorial choices, or the rehearsal-room approach.
You want ongoing sessions across a season or a career stage. Building your classical toolkit, deepening your relationship with the text, or preparing for a specific goal over time.
Every session is shaped around your situation. There is no fixed syllabus. Emily works with what you bring: a speech, a scene, a rehearsal problem, a career question, or a text you need to understand before you walk into the room.
The approach is the same method that runs through the cohorts, the clinic, and the library. In a private session, it is applied entirely to your material and your problem.
Most Shakespeare coaches are actors or voice specialists. Emily is a working writer-director who also coaches. She has spent over a decade at Shakespeare's Globe as a text practitioner, coaching actors on main house productions. She has directed professionally across the UK, won two Fringe Firsts for plays she wrote and directed, and had her West End debut at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
That means she works on both sides of the table. She understands what directors need from actors, what actors need from directors, and what the text is doing underneath both. Whether you are preparing an audition, navigating a rehearsal, or directing a production, the coaching comes from someone who does all three.
"For me, Emily Jenkins represents the gold standard in acting coaching. With her shrewd knowledge of TV, film and stage techniques, she is marvellous at getting the best out of me. She has such a constructive attitude to helping me discover what holds me back. That's why I keep going back to her."
"Emily's expert knowledge helps actors make the text completely their own within the parameters of their performance. She's a lovely presence and a joy to work with. A brilliant asset for actors and directors."
"I never knew the true value of having a coach work with you to prep for a role until working with Emily. I quickly discovered the kind of magic that is only gifted to an actor after the first preview. A joy and a pleasure."
"Emily made Shakespeare more accessible and less intimidating, creating a safe, judgement-free environment. I've learned valuable skills I'll use throughout my career, and I plan to continue working with her long-term."
Every private session is built around the same approach Emily uses in her cohorts, the monthly clinic, and the on-demand library: a modern, actor-first way of working with Shakespeare that makes the text playable, specific, and alive in the room. In a 1:1 session, the method is applied entirely to your material and your situation.

It depends on what you are working on. Some clients book a single session to prepare an audition piece. Others work with Emily across a season or a career stage. There is no minimum commitment.
If you have material (a script, a monologue, a self-tape brief), share it in advance so Emily can prepare. If you are looking for speech selection guidance, that can be part of the session itself.
Yes. Emily is a working writer-director as well as a coach. She works with directors on text, editorial choices, rehearsal-room approach, and actor management. The same method applies, from the other side of the table.
The monthly clinic is a group session where several actors work in the room. 1:1 coaching is entirely private: your material, your time, Emily's full attention. If you want a coached room with other actors, the clinic is the better fit. If you need bespoke, focused work on your specific situation, book 1:1.
Book a session directly through Emily's calendar. Include a brief note about what you are working on so the session can be shaped around you.
